Important Settings After Installing WordPress

Whenever you install WordPress, it'll be just a stock installation with some demonstration like dummy posts, dummy pages, dummy comments, and more. There're many things that you have to customize for your website or your readers. So let's know the important settings that you have to do first after installation WordPress:

Delete the Default Post and Page:

Login to your WordPress Dashboard and then go to Posts > All Posts and then delete the default "Hello World" Post. Similarly, go to Pages > All Pages and delete the default "Sample Page" too. To delete both of these, click on the link of the trash.

Setup the WordPress Permalink:

WordPress's default permalink is something like this-
This permalink is small but It's not friendly to the search engine.
You've to change to make it Search Engine Friendly.
Go to Settings > Permalink and select Post Name and click on the Save button. This ensures that when your permalink comes in the search engine, then it will have some keywords, and your blog post will rank great in the search engine.

Set your time zone:

When we install WordPress, we set up Site-Name and Tag Line. You can change this from the settings page at any time.

This's where you configure the homepage name and tagline. This's very important because the default is shown in Google Search. Email address will be the email address of your site's admin and on this same, you'll receive all the email notifications related to your site.
Make sure that you set your time zone to local time, it will make sure that your scheduled post will be published at the right time.

Disable the user's registration:

It's always a great idea that you keep the registration open. If you are creating a website like which gives guests posting permission, spam registration will be a pain. But if you are a sole writer and people do not need to register on your site, I would recommend you disable WordPress registration. For this go to Settings > General.

WordPress's Discussion/Comment Settings:
